Genocide Remembrance Day

Bangladesh International School and College observed Genocide Remembrance Day, a national day of remembrance in Bangladesh observed on 25 March in commemoration of the victims of the Bangladesh genocide during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

A special prayer for the forgiveness of the souls of those killed on the night of March 25, 1971, was held. Freedom Fighter Major Gen Jamil D Ahsan was invited as the chief guest. He was one of the awardees of the gallantry award *Bir Protik*. He shared his experiences of gruesome fight and struggle against the barbarous Pakistani army during the Liberation War. BISC felt honoured to have him as a chief guest to observe the day on 24th March.

Students and teachers from Std V-XII were the audience and they also shared their feelings regarding this genocide. We hope the students will honour the memories of the victims, try to acknowledge the past and pave the way for a more just and compassionate future.
